Valmont — Start here

Install and configure Valmont in an unpublished draft theme first. A theme ZIP contains layout templates, sections, and Liquid logic; it does not automatically populate products, pages, navigation menus, or custom data definitions on a new store.

1. Upload and brand the theme

In your Shopify Admin, navigate to Online Store → Themes → Add theme → Upload zip file. Upload Valmont-theme.zip, then open the Shopify Theme Editor (Customize). Configure your brand identity, logo, favicon, typography, and color schemes under Theme settings. Each section supports individual color scheme selections. Set up product photography before placing decorative imagery.

The supplied default preset features a refined forest green and warm cream palette. Replace demo imagery with your authentic brand assets.

2. Add products and watch information

Manage product titles, prices, inventory, variants, and photography in Shopify Products. Single-variant timepieces do not require artificial configuration options. Assign real option sets (such as case metals or strap styles) and attach corresponding variant imagery.

For shared horological specifications, follow the Watch specifications guide. Create the definition, add active entries, and select them via the product's watch.profile metafield. Any populated direct watch product metafield takes precedence over profile values. Leave unknown values blank, and enter dimensional measurements as raw decimal numbers without appending "mm".

For illustrative demonstrations, prefix the profile reference with DEMO-. These timepieces display a localized illustrative-specification notice across cards, technical tables, comparison, and measurement tools.

3. Create pages and navigation

Create required storefront pages under Online Store → Pages, and assign their corresponding template on the right panel:

Page intentTemplate
Brand story & heritageabout
Lookbook / craftsmanshiplookbook / craftsmanship
Wrist size guide / movementssize-guide / movements
FAQ / watch care & maintenancefaq / watch-care
Shipping and returns / warrantyshipping-returns / warranty
Order tracking & helptrack-order
Saved watches / comparisonwishlist / compare
Stockists / wholesale inquiriesstockists / wholesale
Press / contactpress / contact

Connect your saved-watches and comparison pages under Theme settings → Companion pages. Build navigation menus in Content → Menus, and assign them in your header and footer sections.

4. Configure sections

Drag and reorder sections in the theme editor. Choose products via native product pickers and hide optional sections you do not require. Featured product supports purchase blocks, Custom Liquid, and installed Shopify Theme App Blocks.

The Wrist Atelier module renders timepiece dimensions at a synchronized drawing scale. The campaign invitation modal supports custom trigger timing, scroll thresholds, and manual mode.

5. Languages and markets

Storefront and editor interface dictionaries include English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, and Turkish. Dictionaries localize theme UI strings but do not translate merchant product titles, descriptions, menus, or policy pages. Configure target languages in Shopify Settings → Languages, and use Shopify-compatible translation workflows.

6. Pre-launch checklist

Updates and support

Always duplicate your active theme before applying an update. Preserve your merchant settings and avoid overwriting settings_data.json with foreign configurations. Include your store URL, theme version, browser, and reproduction steps when submitting a support ticket.
